It is a tremendous privilege and honour to serve as the Ambassador of the Anglesey Agricultural Society this year. As someone who was born and raised on Anglesey and has benefited greatly from the island's agricultural, cultural and social communities, this role means more to me than words can express.

I spent my early years in Cemaes before moving to Church Bay. I attended Ysgol Cylch y Garn, Llanrhuddlad and Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern before continuing my studies at Aberystwyth University. Studying away from home opened my eyes to new opportunities, but it also confirmed just how deeply rooted my connection to Anglesey has always been.

After graduating, I spent a year in Cardiff working for Urdd Gobaith Cymru as Community Officer for Mid Glamorgan. However, like so many of us, the pull of North Wales proved too strong, and I soon returned home. Since then, my partner, Mared Fflur, and I have bought our first home together in Caernarfon. Despite this, we still spend much of our time on Anglesey as active members of Rhosybol Young Farmers Club, Côr Esceifiog and Theatr Fach Llangefni.

One organisation that has had the greatest influence on my life is the Young Farmers' movement. I have proudly been a member of Rhosybol Young Farmers Club for thirteen years and now serve as County Training Vice-Chair. I have seen first-hand the important role the movement plays in developing confidence, practical skills and lifelong friendships. Young Farmers is much more than a club – it is a family, a place to learn, and a stepping stone for the next generation of leaders. Without the movement, I would not be standing here today as Ambassador.

Alongside agriculture, the arts have always been an important part of my life. I am a proud member of Côr Esceifiog and Theatr Fach Llangefni, where I also serve on the committee. Both organisations have given me opportunities to grow, perform and become part of a vibrant creative community that reflects the incredible talent found across the island. I have also had the privilege of serving as President of Urdd Gobaith Cymru and President of the Welsh Students' Union at Aberystwyth University (UMCA). These experiences taught me the importance of listening, leading and standing up for our Welsh-speaking communities.

Being chosen as Ambassador for the Anglesey Agricultural Society feels like bringing all these experiences together. The Society represents everything I value – tradition, innovation, community, and the pride we all share in our land and our people.

I would like to sincerely thank the Society for giving me this opportunity. After thoroughly enjoying my year as Deputy Ambassador, I am excited to take on this role and to play my part in helping the Society continue to go from strength to strength.

The Anglesey Show is about so much more than agriculture. It is a celebration of our identity, showcasing the dedication of our farmers, craftspeople, local businesses and talented young people. It is a place where old friends meet, new generations are welcomed, and our community comes together. It is a privilege to be part of this tradition and to work alongside the many volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy to make it all possible.

As I look ahead to the year, I hope to be a positive voice, a friendly face and a passionate advocate for everything that makes Anglesey such a special place.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has been part of my journey – my family, my partner, my friends, my clubs and the organisations that have helped shape me into the confident and committed person I am today. Without your support, I would not be here.

Thank you once again to the Anglesey Agricultural Society for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to a year of celebrating, collaborating and building on the strong foundations that already exist. Together, let's make 2026–2027 a year to remember.
